This rodent is the largest in North America. The beaver is nocturnal but can sometimes be seen early or late in the day. It’s during the night that they do most of their damage, and can be devastating to landowners if not addressed early. Beavers are notorious for damming small streams into large bogs or swamps. Once established it can be very expensive removing large dams, and if not removed the old dam can entice other beavers to move into the area.
Beavers usually have one litter of young per year, and can reach weights up to 70 pounds. Their teeth never stop growing, so they will naw on trees, and eat the bark. They can cut down full grown trees in one night!
